I
made these pages during the
days leading up to the 20th anniversary
of the Berlin wall's demise on 9 November 2009, a date reminding us of
the subsequent fall of communism and the East block, as well as the end
of a lengthy cold war, which lasted for the better of the century's
second half.
The
upcoming event prompted me to
browse the web for resources on the communist era, including Soviet
artefacts and propaganda material, which made me realise how sparse
they are.
The pages are hand-coded
1990's-style to further enhance the ambience and feel of yesteryears.
To my knowledge, none of the pictures are copyrighted (Huh… communism
and
private property?). The site's name is selfexplanatory, but just
in case… I've
never subscribed to
communism or socialism, but hold a social democratic/fiscally
conservative political view.

An early Soviet propaganda poster
– typical for the kind of commie memorabilia you're likely to find on
site.
